MARQUETTE MARITIME MUSEUM ANNEX

Model of the USS Darter (SS-227) aground on Bombay Schoal in the South China Sea, October 24th, 1944.

Ashtray from the USS Darter's Wardroom. When Commander David H. McClintock, the Commanding Officer, abandoned the Darter, this ashtray was the only thing he took with him. For many years afterward, his wife, Kirby, chided him about taking the ashtray instead of her picture!
